Mr. David A. Dean serves as Chairman of the North Texas Crime Commission as well as President and Chief Executive Officer of Dean International, Inc., an international public policy consultancy. He is also the principal shareholder of David A. Dean & Associates, P.C., a public policy administrative regulatory law firm. He is a member in good standing of the Dallas Bar, State Bar of Texas, and American Bar Associations.
David served the State of Texas for over a decade as general counsel to both Republican Governor William P. Clements, Jr., and his predecessor, Democratic Governor Dolph Briscoe. He also served as Texas Secretary of State under Governor Clements.
David obtained his BBA degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and an Honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from Dallas Baptist University. He is a graduate of St. Mark’s School of Dallas.
Mr. Dean has climbed mountains around the world including Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Popocatepetl in Mexico and in the United States Mount Hood, Mount Whitney, Mount Elbert and Guadalupe Peak. In addition, Dean is an avid Harley Davidson rider, participant in the Walk to Emmaus and an occasional Sunday school and Bible Study teacher/facilitator.
He is married to Jean Maier Dean, a highly regarded consulting civil engineer. David and Jean have opened their home monthly to a Saturday night dinner, Bible Study and Christian Fellowship since 1997. His daughter Hillary is a residential real estate broker in Dallas, Texas.
